How does the Health Care Access Office help people?
People often are eligible for health care coverage and related services but don’t know where to start. Generations provides major funding for the Health Care Access Office at the Lake Superior Community Health Center in Duluth and Superior to get uninsured families and individuals on the path to good health. The following services are offered free of charge:
- Assessing eligibility for health care and financial assistance programs, including Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, BadgerCare, Qualified Health Plans, pharmaceutical assistance, and others.
- Assisting with applications for a wide variety of support programs.
- Helping resolve medical bill burdens by coordinating with community care programs, collection agencies, and medical providers to create reasonable payment plans for individuals.
- Providing referrals to other agencies for concerns related to financial assistance, housing, food, employment, and disability issues.
